Ripple
Ripple is an interactive, site specific installation, commissioned by the Brisbane City Council. The work focuses conceptually on the changing states of water as a metaphor for human emotion, with the intention to connect us to nature via empathy. The audience becomes the artist, leaving their unique imprint on the artwork.
Remo Vallance created a fabrication design solution that solved the challenging task of building and erecting 11 large scale screens, over all scale 20m long x 5m high that could be installed on water and be transported as lightweight sculptures, without the use of a crane.

Rainbow Circles - Healing circles
Brisbane Festival 2020 & Botanica 2021
Rainbow Circles - Healing Circles beckons people into a transformative space of joy and wonder, as we collectively emerge from what has been a dark and lonely time. Brightly colored luminescent rainbow arches dance and glow in a garden space, calling us to find out what lies over the rainbow.
This was a collaboration between Hiromi Tango and Remo Vallance for Brisbane Festival at Metro Arts.
Remo was given a concept brief of archways lit with LED's and rainbow colours along with a set budget. He then designed the entire artwork.

ECHO/OHCE
A 'World Science Festival' commission designed by Georgie Pinn. The installation is a giant storytelling device that is interactive for the public, who can capture and project their own face onto the sculpture and then animate its 3D form, along with sound triggers. The work explores the space between narcissism and empathy and relationship between man and machine, breaking down bias and prejudice and building community engagement.
World Science Fest 2022 & Now Or Never Music & Arts Festival 2023
The brief was to design and fabricate a 7 metre high face sculpture from lightweight aluminum. The sculpture also needed to be modular so it could be broken into pieces and transported and elevated without the use of a crane.
Due to inflation post COVID the process for Echo involved a rigorous re-working of the artwork size and materials cost with time constraints.

MIMA: Beautiful Space 2021
Multi-Arts Pavillion, Lake Macquarie NSW
MIMA : Beautiful Space responds both to the Awabakal name for the pavilion, meaning ‘cause to stay’, and the homophonous Japanese reading of mi and ma meaning 'beautiful space'. This artwork was commissioned to illuminate the architecturally significant building – creating a beacon to welcome visitors to the site and herald its arrival. It is best viewed at dusk and early evening.
Remo worked from a brief which included a digital 3D render. This had to be re-designed to suit the two pre-set rigging points on each building wall. This governed the design outcome - each loop became a truss. The loops are fully programmable LED's. Due to COVID Remo was unable to install the artwork himself so consideration was made for a third party to install it and this was achieved seamlessly.

The Cleaners
A living room sits in mid-air, 7 metres above the ground. It is completely white. Two cleaners in white uniforms inspect the room, taking great pains to maintain the white rooms perfect whiteness. On the ground below sits a giant slingshot. Beside the slingshot, a large collection of mud- filled balloons. Let the games begin.
PART PERFORMANCE, PART LIVE PAINTING, PART CARNIVAL GAME
Originally commissioned for Splendour in the Grass 2018 & featured at Bleach Festival, Sydney Festival & Springtime
This event was a collaboration with Remo Vallance, Joey Ruigrok - High End Contraption Designer Builder and Shock Therapy. They developed the sling shot contraption which needed to be safe for public use every time. A safety net was also designed and made around the top of the container. These items were all flat packed for durability. The event was a great success.

'Sunshine Psychology' Museum of Brisbane 2021
Sunshine Psychology playfully subverts marketing campaigns that have sought to link Brisbane’s psyche with the sun. The gentle, shifting gradient of the LED letters embodies the hypnotic effect of marketing psychology with its bright lights and alluring colours. The words play on the positivity often associated with sunshine and bright skies, while commenting on the monopoly that Brisbane tends to claim over the sun.
